Sister's Reader's Sharing Their Stories: Battzi's 4-22-12 Update
*SPECIAL NOTICE: Thank you to all who prayed, are praying, sending good vibes my way. I really appreciate everything. My health is slowly returning.*
Today is the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day! At one time, I thought this was just another example of stupidity forced among American people. In 2009, when my thinking began to change and I grew in my awareness of food, I celebrated Earth Day. I have celebrated it ever since.
I took my inspiration from Genesis 1:29. This is not meant to be a Bible lesson but the words of this verse were the catalyst for my dietary change.
It states: 29 And G-d said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food." Now, I'd read these words for years in the Torah but one day, they stood out from the page. This was the answer, to my understanding, of how to beat Cancer, Diabetes, etc.
Through much success and failures, this dietary lifestyle has become my own. That is what I desire to stress on this the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day.
Make it your own! Don't try to live any other person's vision. Live your own. Read as much as you can then make your own Meal Plans. The Plant Kingdom is so colourful, so varied that you'll never tire of the variety.
Enjoy! Don't go around with a sour face but smile. Actually, you'll be smiling because of how good you'll be feeling on the inside! I can testify to that.
Take your time! Anything worthy is worth taking your time. Why rush? Do it in increments if you must but just do it!
Avoid extremes! All of this screaming, hollering, anger, judging others because they don't eat or think as you do is asinine. The Vegan/Vegetarian Tent is so immense. All of us can find a place to rest within it. Strive for balance in all things.
This is what Earth Day is all about. I see more and more Blacks now turning on to the Natural Life/Dietary Plan and why not!?! We gave it to the world! The Standard American Diet wasn't meant for us. It was meant for others to give them stamina. We ate from Mother Earth. Slavery and all the things we had to endure saw us adopting the SAD. We fell into Nutritional Slavery but, thank G-d, we are waking up and reclaiming our health, our original way of eating. Many young people-of-colour are taking up this banner. I'm proud of them. Equal numbers of adults-of-colour are moving back to the Earth for nourishment.
Your Mother does love you and strives to take care of you. Let your Medicine be your Food.
One last thing. Fast, if you can. 1 day, 2 or 3 days, 1 week, whatever. Try it. Drink either water or fresh juices. It'll expand your mind and spirit.
So celebrate Earth Day by taking a new lease on your dietary life...without going to extremes! (~_^)
Happy Earth Day!
and Bandit =^.^=
